Each summer hundreds of children in Athens County go without nutritious meals. School is not in session and parents have to transition from providing one meal daily to three meals which can be an obstacle for many families.  Please help CCWC help the children of Athens County by donating pb&j jars.

VBS Thank You

VBS was a great time!  We had a nightly average of 170 children Monday through Thursday.  None of this would have been possible without the help of all of the volunteers who volunteered their time, talent, donations and many prayers to help send the message of God’s love to the children who attended VBS.

Annual Church Report

The end of the church year is May 31. Typically, we have an Annual Local Church Conference in May to view reports, budgets and vote on officers. This year, however, there will be two phases to the plan: first the Annual Local Church Reports will be available starting next week, May 4 and secondly, the budget and voting will be held on May 19 at 6:30 PM.  If you would like to read the Pastor’s and ministry reports, please pick up a packet at the table in the narthex starting next week.  Church members are encouraged to attend the May 19 meeting.

Water for Charleston

Last Sunday Pastor Denver made an appeal for CCWC to collect bottles of water for the chemical spill in West Virginia. Money was also collected. From Sunday to Wednesday morning, CCWC members got the word out by Facebook, e-mail and personal appeal. A total number of bottles of water, paper plates, plastic ware and hand sanitizers is  not known but as you can see in the top picture, there was a lot!

Sixteen people with trucks signed up to transport the supplies. We did not need all of them but are grateful for the amazing response to help!

The water was taken to Faith Community Church in Charleston. This is a struggling inner city church that in the best of times deals with serious life issues. This crisis put a strain on an already difficult situation. Pastor Chris Shinn and wife, Lisa were very grateful for the donations of supplies and money.

$3069 was raised to help with this emergency!

Thank you good people of Christ Community Wesleyan Church. Your willingness to literally “offer a cup of cold water” was evident of Christ’s love in you!

The Commitment Cards have been tallied for His Purpose-Our Vision and for the next three years, the people of CCWC have pledged $600,684.

If you have not filled out a Commitment Card, and would like to, you may pick up one from the table in the narthex outside the church office. Fill it out and drop it in the box.

I am so thankful for you and people like you who believe in the mission of the church of making disciples. Your faith and vision to see the need of expanding facilities in order to expand Christ’s ministry is obvious.
